Cosmetics category gets a makeover

According to the NEXT Trend database, over the last two years, we’ve seen three distinct emerging certifications arise in the cosmetics category:

The same values consumers apply when choosing which food and beverage products they purchase extends to other aspects of their lives – like what they put on their bodies. In other words, it’s becoming more important for cosmetics brands to get certified in order to show they are aligning with specialty diets like vegan, paleo or gluten free to better connect with shoppers.

Certifications with a reputable nonprofit, council or association with goals that align with cosmetic brands has become an important medium to convey integrity and mission. Think associations like Asthma & Allergy Friendly Certified or Made Safe Certified.
